Girls  Basketball, in defeat, gave a performance for the ages against Nutley. Earlier the Bengals had ousted the Raiders in Essex County Tournament play. Nutley, bent on revenge, roared out to an 18-0 lead in the rematch. Bloomfield showed tremendous resilience and actually forged a lead in the third quarter. The effort took its toll and Nutley emerged with the win but Coach Sceurman’s squad had much to be proud of. The team earlier in the week qualified for the upcoming State Tournament while besting Orange. Orange had defeated Bloomfield earlier this season.

IN SATURDAY'S COUNTY QUARTER-FINAL WIN OVER IRVINGTON

Boys Basketball may have found inspiration in the girls comeback after they found themselves down 14-0 against Irvington in the County quarter-finals. Showing a great deal of fortitude they persevered, eventually taking their first lead of the game with under 15 seconds to play.

It was unheralded big man Ahmid Henderson who put back a Bengal missed free throw that made the play of the day.
