Show Performed for Blind Teen, Mayor's Mid-Year Interview, National Night Out in the Week in Review

WPIX TV news reported on Friday night's 5:00 news program the story of former Bloomfield High School student Jessica Pastore, who had a musical performed in her honor by local charitable theater company, Talent Time.

Jessica’s parents, Tony and Myra Pastore, told Patch, “We have a daughter who struggles with a brain tumor and now she's blind.  We have a son who was diagnosed with autism at age two.  You have no control over these things. The battle to save Jessica’s sight is over, but we have to try to protect the other things that allow her to live.”

Patch met with McCarthy this week to assess the progress of the redevelopment so far, and what residents can expect in the coming year. 

A Bloomfield man who was shirtless, bleeding and drunk was arrested on July 30 on charges of aggravated assault of police officers, resisting arrest and throwing bodily fluids, according to the police department.

Mayor Raymond McCarthy announced that an information session addressing the progress of the Bloomfield Center Redevelopment will take place next Tuesday, August 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Bloomfield College, College Hall.  McCarthy, Bloomfield Parking Authority Attorney Joseph Baumann, Jr. and Bill Colgan, Managing Partner of Bloomfield Center Urban Renewal will answer questions from the community.

The Bloomfield community came out on August 7 to enjoy their annual "National Night Out" celebration, a instruction, sponsored by the Bloomfield Police and Fire Departments.
