Cardboard Likely Cause of Liquor Store Fire

Smoke fire ignited in the basement of Forest Hill Liquors Wednesday afternoon.

There were no injuries when a smoke fire broke out Wednesday afternoon in the basement of a Bloomfield liquor store.

According to Deputy Fire Chief J.R. Gehringer, a smoke fire likely caused by cardboard ignited in the basement of Forest Hill Liquors on Belleville Avenue.

The exact origin of the fire was not immediately determined, Gehringer said. None of the nearby businesses needed to be evacuated.
