Sports victories abound for the Bengals this week.
The following update comes courtesy of the Bloomfield High School Athletic Department. --------------- Track and Field performed well at the Ranger Relays at Walkill Valley HS. Both Boys and Girls teams finished in fourth place overall. Serhiy Kralka and Assad Younas teamed up to win the Shot Put with a meet record distance of over 102’. Jeovan Santos and Mike Galli won the Javelin competition. The team had numerous other place winners most impressively the Boys 4X800 meter team which bested the Meet Record in finishing second to Morris Hills which also shattered the meet record and qualified for the Penn Relays. The Bloomfield High School Athletic Hall of Fame will conduct their induction ceremony as part of the Bloomfield Educational …

Honors and early triumphs for Bloomfield athletics.
The following update comes courtesy the Bloomfield High School Athletic Department. --- Winter sports accolades continue to be released- Softball opened the season with back to back shut out wins. Debbie Mazzeo was masterful on the mound tossing a one hitter vs Belleville and a No-Hitter against Verona. Boys Volleyball had a busy week with a 4-1 record and a Victory in the Silver Bracket of the Bengal Invitational Tournament. Their exploits have not gone unnoticed as the Star-Ledger has the squad ranked #16 in the State top twenty. Baseball stands at 2-2 with wins over Montclair and Morris Knolls. Captain of wrestling team recently captured his second straight district championship.
The Bloomfield high school athlete of the month for march is senior wrestler Kyle Christiansen. A team captain, Kyle recently captured his second straight district championship at 170 lbs. He is also a one time Essex county champion and was selected fro the first team all-super Essex conference and second team all-Essex county. Kyle was also a member of the Bengal football squad. Kyle has earned scholar-athlete status in each of the seasons he has competed and has a weighted GPA of 5.0 and attained a perfect score on the math portion of the SATs. He will attend Carnegie-Mellon University in the fall. The Bloomfield High School athlete of the month award is sponsored by the Brookdale ShopRite, which will make a donation to the Bloomfield …

Bloomfield Bengals basketball ends successful season with post season loss to Hackensack.
The following message comes courtesy of the Bloomfield High School sports department. ------------ Boys Basketball gave us a thrilling ride-advancing through a stellar field to reach the Sectional Championship Game. Ultimately it was Hackensack’s night but certainly not for a lack of effort on the Bengals part. As they had done at the Football Championship- Bengal nation turned out in force with over 1000 strong. Congratulations to Coach Brunner, his assistants and all the young men on the team, especially those who transitioned from a grueling football campaign to play in arguably the best conference for Basketball in the State As we prepare for the spring season I have included a picture of former Bloomfield Athletic Director Joe Bogusz …

Final score 67-44.
The Bloomfield High School Boys varsity team took the lead early and held onto it tenaciously in a tournament game that ended with a 23 point margin of victory over West Orange on Monday night. While the West Orange squad were able to get within five points of Bloomfield after a rally near the end of the second period, Bloomfield ran away with the score in the second half, ending with a 67-44 win.
