New Middle School Spelling Bee Champion Crowned

Eighth-grader Jaire Largin won the Scripps Spelling Bee last Friday.

A new wordsmith was crowned last week in Bloomfield Middle School.  Eighth-grader Jaire Largin took home first place in the school's annual Scripps Spelling Bee last Friday. Coming in second place was fellow eighth-grade student Kayla Harney. The spelling bee was schoolwide and began in individual classrooms until a little more than 100 students remained. The trickiest word that stumped most students was "covetous." After nearly two hours, it was the correct spelling of "statistician" that brought Jaire Largin the first-place prize.  Jaire Largin will now move on to the regional spelling bee competition at Bergen County Community College in the coming months.
