Utility Companies Accountable Under Proposed Bill
State Sen. Kevin O'Toole wants PSE&G, JCP&L and others to improve response times during emergency situations.
A North Jersey state senator is proposing legislation to cut down on the long lines at gas stations and ensure the safety of residents during emergencies. State Sen. Kevin O’Toole (R-Cedar Grove) is co-sponsoring the New Jersey Residents Power Protection Act. The legislation would hold utility companies accountable for their response times during emergencies. Out of power for a week? For 2 weeks? Was your house divided in half by a tree, or filled with seawater? Were you or your family hurt, or god forbid, lost their life? Those things happened to some. I for one, will take time without electricity over the alternative any day. Does anyone agree? Sounds like many of you feel the extended loss of power was the worse that could happen.   more ›
