Government Meetings and More in the Week Ahead for Bloomfield

A look ahead at noteworthy upcoming stories and events.

At their meeting on Monday night at 7, Council members make their final vote on changing the rules regulating recording of public meetings and municipal offices. According to the new ordinance, Members of the Council and the general public are prohibited from using cellphones or type of voice communication devices during meetings. The rule requires that phones to be placed on vibrate or silent mode during the Meeting. Also, Council members are prohibited from text messaging, emailing or communicating with any one or multiple Council members during any meeting regarding any agenda item or any matter dealing with the Township of Bloomfield. The Week Ahead: Another School Budget Talk and Council Meeting

Notable stories in the week ahead include another BOE meeting on the schools budget shortfall.

Monday Bloomfield's Township Council meets at 7 p.m. at the Municipal building. The Council will recognize the achievements of the seventh grade girls' basketball team and address environmental recognition "Earth Hour" during proclamations. Ordinances include the final passage of the new hours for barbershops and nail salons. The full agenda is online here.  Tuesday The Bloomfield Board of Education will hold a special meeting at the school Bloomfield High School Auditorium. According to an announcement on the Board's website, board members will again discuss issues surrounding the 2013-2014 budget. The Week Ahead: BOE Meetings, Basketball and More

A look at noteworthy upcoming events and news.

Monday Bloomfield's Township Council holds a conference meeting at 7 p.m. at the Law Enforcement Building. The agenda includes a discussion on shared services with the school board and contract renewal with the township's Information Technology services. The complete agenda is online here. The Bloomfield High School girls varsity Basketball takes on Livingston High School at a 5 p.m. home game. The boys varsity squad faces West Orange at 7 p.m., also at home. Tuesday Bloomfield's Board of Education meets at 6:30 p.m. at the Board's Conference Room School on the second floor of the Administration Building.
