Deshon Johnson, 22, of Montclair, was fatally struck by a bus yesterday in Bloomfield.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has identified the man who was killed by a NJ Transit bus yesterday as Deshon L. Johnson, a 22-year-old Essex County College student living in Montclair. A press release from the Prosecutor’s Office said, “The preliminary investigation indicates Johnson was rushing to catch the #709 bus to get to his job when he was struck and killed yesterday morning by a NJ Transit Bus in the vicinity of Broad Street and Bay. He was pronounced dead at 10:54 a.m. “No charges have been filed at this time. A man was struck and killed by an NJ Transit bus on Wednesday morning, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s office.
An unidentified pedestrian was struck and killed Wednesday morning by an NJ Transit bus on Bay Avenue near the intersection of Broad Street in Bloomfield, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed. Details on the victim’s identity have not yet been released. “He was pronounced dead at 10:54 am,” said Kathy Carter, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor’s office. “We have to notify next of kin before I can release any identifying information.” Carter said the pedestrian was struck by an NJ Transit bus at around 10:00 a.m. She said more information would be forthcoming when officers at the scene released a full report. “The man was chasing the bus and was trying to board it but he wasn’t able to gain access,” said one Bloomfield man …

Man did not attempt to move out of the way of the train, an NJ Transit spokesman said.
A man was struck and killed by a westbound Montclair-Boonton line NJ Transit train Friday night in Hackettstown, an NJ Transit spokesman said. According to eyewitness accounts, the man entered the tracks just east of the Willow Grove Street crossing in Hackettstown, positioned himself in front of the train and did not move out of its path Friday night at about 11:00 p.m., according to John Durso Jr., an NJ Transit spokesman. NJ Transit police and medical examiners were on the scene and the man was pronounced dead just after 1:00 a.m., Durso said. Deshon was simply waiting at the bus stop on his way to work and the bus just didn't stop and drove right past him, coming onto the curb and killing my brother. We will be protesting the town of Bloomfield and NJ transit this Wednesday August 15th, which will be 1 month since our brother has walked this earth.
