The Bloomfield Avenue Hotline involves two phone booths; one at the College in the College Library and one at the Museum in Lehman Court, the Museum’s main entrance hall. See how sculptor Brian Birrer created a solid wood sculpture of Robinson, the first African-American to play on a Major League Baseball team.

Scultptor Brian Birrer will bring his life-sized sculpture of Jackie Robinson to the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center on Sunday.   Birrer will be on hand at 1 p.m. to discuss how he created the 250 lb. wood sculpture of Robinson, the first African-American to play on a Major League Baseball team. Birrer spent more than 900 hours to transform more than 50 pieces of walnut, pine and basswood into a figure so realistic many people reportedly stand only inches away without realizing that the clothing, shoes and hat are all carved out of wood. Advocate, Patient Makes Her First Medical Marijuana Purchase

Susan Sturner, of Lawrenceville, visited Montclair's Greenleaf Compassion Center for the first time recently and walked out with legal marijuana.

Susan Sturner suffers from fibromyalgia, Hepatitis C and a host of other ailments. To ease her pain, her doctor recently prescribed her with one thing that will help: medical marijuana.  Sturner drove to Montclair from Lawrenceville for her appointment at Greenleaf Compassion Center on Dec. 20. She later walked out with her first purchase of medical marijuana -- with no fear of being arrested.  “I feel like I’m in a dream,” said Sturner. “I’ve waited so long for this and so many people with the Coalition with Medical Marijuana of New Jersey have worked for years ... to get here.”  Sturner is one of the few hundreds of medical marijuana patients going to the newly opened dispensary, which opened on Dec. 6 in Montclair's busy business …

We all know that someday, soon, this prohibition will end...and none too soon. I spent 5 years in Federal Prison for a marijuana offense. The memorable day that I met with the parole panel, I asked, "When pot becomes legal, what will my 5 years spent in prison have meant?" Their response, "That is a very philosophical question. We don't deal with philosophy in this office." Case closed...go back …   more ›

In light of recent tragedies, there's certainly no place for things like this. As a native of Montclair, and a twenty year resident of Bloomfield, this year's football rivalry was absolutely fantastic. I hope this doesn't mar what was a great season for both teams.   more ›
