State senator, governor fuel old feud over judicial appointments.
Governor Chris Christie told the Essex County Bar Association Wednesday morning state Sen. Richard Codey, D-Essex, is the reason judicial appointments in the state are deadlocked, according to a published report. The governor said because of Codey 12 to 15 judges will not be appointed during a breakfast at McLoone's Boathouse in West Orange, according to an NJ.com report. Codey later disputed the allegations saying three years ago Christie made a deal with Essex County but has not honored it, the report said. “He had his crew block appointments, so once again he has no respect for the truth,” the state sentor told the website.

Governor undecided on whether he'll support Senate bill that would outlaw the practice among minors.
Gov. Chris Christie said Wednesday he is not sure if he would sign a bill banning minors from so-called "gay conversion" therapy should it reach his desk, nj.com reports. The New Jersey Senate's Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee voted 7-1 Monday to advance a bill to the full Senate that would outlaw the controversial practice, which seeks to alter a patient's sexual orientation. Gov. Chris Christie is the best person to lead New Jersey over the next four years, according to voters polled in a survey released this week by Quinnipiac University. Christie, a Republican, leads his Democratic rival, state Sen. Barbara Buono (D-Middlesex), 62 percent to 25 percent in the state's 2013 gubernatorial race, according to the poll. The governor's overall approval rating also remains high. Christie's 74 percent approval rating and 69 percent favorable rating tie his personal record highs from January, the Huffington Post reports.
