Jackals Clinch Can-Am Championship Berth

Team to host championship games 3-5 against Quebec Capitales at Yogi Berra Stadium.

The New Jersey Jackals have clinched their second consecutive Can-Am League championship series berth and will face the Quebec Capitales in a seven-game series beginning Wednesday in Quebec City. Now that they've clinched, the Jackals have the benefit of finishing the regular season knowing they've earned a spot in the league's final series of the season.  The Jackals will face the three-time defending champion Capitales in a best-of-seven series that pits the two teams in the championship against each other for the second year in a row.  Quebec will host the first two games next Wednesday and Thursday before the series switches to Yogi Berra Stadium for Games 3-5 on Sept. 7-9. Newark Bears Slugger One Step Closer to a Major League Return

Newark Bears contest against the Brockton Rox at Riverfront Stadium Sunday began like many others this season. The Bears got on the scoreboard early thanks to a base hit from catcher Eric McGee, which drove in second baseman Ryan Walsh to give Newark a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the fourth inning, however something special happened. Following a single from Bears center fielder Tim Raines Jr., Daryle Ward, who was scheduled to bat, left midway through the inning. Players and coaches from both teams stood on the field and appeared bewildered as to what was transpiring. Whose Side Are You On?

Bloomfield is at the center of baseball's newest rivalry between the New Jersey Jackals and the Newark Bears of the Can-Am League.

Chicago baseball fans have the Windy City Showdown between the North side's Cubs and the South side's White Sox. New Yorkers are treated twice per season to the Subway Series between the Mets and the Yankees. Now, Essex County has it's own cross-town baseball rivalry with Bloomfield at the center of it all. A ten minute drive to the north leads you at the steps of Yogi Berra Stadium, the home of the New Jersey Jackals. A ten minute drive to the south brings you to Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium in the heart of Downtown Newark, home to the Newark Bears professional baseball team.
