BHS sports update reflects victories and improved play.
The Following information comes courtesy the Bloomfield High School Athletic Department. ------------- Softball went 5-0 for the week outscoring their opponents 55-1 in the process. Steph Mancuso blasted two Home Runs in the win over MKA. Debbie Mazzeo now has six shutouts on the season. The Track team bested East Orange and Nutley in league competition. At the Morris Hills Relays both the Boys Shot Put (Serhiy Kralka, Assad Younas, Adam Wooten) and Boys Javelin (Jeovan Santos, Mike Galli, Vic Olapinsin) continued undefeated on the season. The Golf team continues to lower their scores with each successive match. Alexandria Russomanno is close to clinching a berth in the Individual State Tournament. Volleyball went undefeated for the …

Festa ranked 17th in New Jersey.
Bloomfield High School Senior and bowling team member John Festa is Bloomfield high school’s February athlete of the month. Festa won the individual sectional champion with a 694 series John and his individual achievement led his team to the New Jersey state section ii championship. At the championship, he advanced to the second round of the state individual tournament while posting a 719 series, ultimately finishing 17th in the state. He had the highest average in the super Essex conference American division. John was selected first team all super Essex conference American division for his overall play. The following Bengals were selected for First Team All-Essex County Second Team All-Essex County Third Team All-Essex County In addition Mike Carter, Jr was named second team All Group IV. The Baseball Team was ranked #7 in Essex County and the Volleyball Team #12 in all of North Jersey. The following Bloomfield High School spring athletes earned all league status: Back by popular demand: Bengal Trivia! Who was the last Bengal Baseball player to be named First Team All-State? Last week’s trivia question: Who was the last Bengal sophomore to place at the Meet of Champions? Correct answer: Stef Petine-Javelin-Stef placed three times at the MOC. The Bloomfield Bengal Track and Field team won big at the Essex County Individual Championships May 18 and 19, taking home one gold medal and seven other medals. Junior Serhiy Kralka won first place in the shot put and fifth in the discus throw. Sophomore Tonisha Beresford continued her break out season for the Bengal track team, coming in third place with a time of :58.54 for the girls 400m run and breaking the current Bloomfield High School record.
