Bloomfield Weatherman: A Sunny Tuesday Will Greet the Snow

Temperatures will reach 42 F.

  The snow will continue to melt on Tuesday. The Bloomfield Weatherman predicts the sun will shine throughout Tuesday, according to weather.com. The clear skies will be accompanied by a high of 42 F.  The evening will remain clear and the temperature will drop down to a low of 27 F. The sun will rise at 6:55 a.m. and set in the west at 5:28 p.m. The moon will rise shortly after the sun at 7:50 a.m. and set at 8:29 p.m. A new moon began on Feb. 10, and the first quarter moon – where half the moon is illuminated – will be on Feb. 17.  Tuesday is also the day 43 of 2013. There are 322 days left until 2014.

Bangals Basketball: 8th-Grade Girls Look To Playoffs

The Bengals will face Glen Ridge on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the Bloomfield High School main gym. The winner will get into the finals.

  With a 60-42 win over Belleville this week in Bloomfield, the Bloomfield 8th- grade girls basketball team closed out its regular season with a 12-2 league record, 16-3 overall, and won the “C” Division of the Essex County Suburban Basketball League. Next week they will be the #2 seed in the playoffs and will face Glen Ridge on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the Bloomfield High School main gym. A win for either team will lead to the finals. A pair of road victories last week against Belleville, 62-26, and West Orange, 47-28, coupled with a Tuesday night home win against Montclair, 45-33, enabled the Bengals to claim the #2 seed. Bloomfield Weatherman: Snow, Snow and More Snow

Winter storm Nemo is on the way and will bring blizzard conditions Friday evening, but the snow will start falling around 6 a.m.

  Winter storm Nemo will hit Bloomfield Friday.  The Bloomfield Weatherman brings bad news: Nemo will roll through New Jersey early Friday and into Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. A "Winter Storm Warning" has also been issued between 6 a.m. Friday and noon on Saturday.  Snow accumulation is expected to be between 10 and 14 inches. Temperatures will hover in the low 30s all day.  The evening will bring the strongest winds and heaviest snowfall, in addition to freezing rain and sleet. Temperatures will dip down into the upper 20s, too.  Visibility could be limited to several hundred feet during the worst of the storm, so try and stay off the roadways.  Keep those flashlights and candles handy, because winds are expected …

Essex County Golf Courses Offer Early Registration Discount

County gives golfers an incentive to renew or purchase an Adult ID card before Feb. 28.

Golfers who want to play on Essex County’s three public golf courses in 2013 have an incentive to register early. A $5 discount is being offered on new or renewed Adult ID cards purchased before Thursday, Feb. 28, according to the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs. The discounted Adult Rate is $40 (regular fee is $45), other rates are not discounted. To Purchase or Renew Golf ID Cards Cards can be purchased or renewed in person at the Essex County Hendricks Field Golf Course Course, 220 Franklin Ave., in Belleville. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon. Golfers must show their current Golf ID card (if renewing) as well as proof of residency, which could be a …

District Eyes New Investments in School Safety

“We are going to put safety into this budget," said Superintendent Jason Bing at a meeting about school safety on Wednesday night at the Bloomfield High School.

  Bloomfield schools have many safety measures already in place, but Superintendent Jason Bing said he wants to improve them and bring the district into the 21st century.  The superintendent addressed both current and prospective school safety measures on Wednesday night to a crowd of nearly 30 parents, township and school administrators, and police officers at Bloomfield High School. The bottom line, said Bing, is making students and staff feel safe. “When students feel safe, they learn better,” said Bing. “When staff feel safe, they teach better. ... Bloomfield Weatherman: Warmer But Cloudy on Tuesday

There will be a potential for rain during the evening.

  Tuesday will be accompanied by warmer weather but potential showers later in the evening.  The Bloomfield Weatherman has seen in a vision that Tuesday will be partly cloudy but sunny with a high of 46 F, according to weather.com. More clouds are expected to roll in around 3 p.m.  The night will drop to a low of 39 F and there will be a 30 percent chance of showers starting at 9 p.m.  The sun will rise in the east at 7:10 a.m. and set in the west at 5:11 p.m.  The luna calednar says the waning moon will rise at 8:06 and set at 8:04 a.m. on Wednesday.

Get Your Flu Shots: Widget Shows Where Available

Bloomfield pharmacies are still offering vaccine while supplies last.

  The past week has been no kinder to New Jersey residents suffering from the sniffles, cough and chills of the flu, state officials say, and has led to the death of a fourth state resident, according to an NJ.com report. A 12-year-old Bergen County girl died earlier this month, Dawn Thomas, a state Health Department spokeswoman said. The current flu season continues to be one of the worst flu seasons in recent history, state Health Department officials say. But there is help out there for Bloomfield residents who want to protect themselves by getting a flu shot. The state Department of Health has added a Find a Flu Shot Locator to its website. Bloomfield Weatherman: Freezing Temps Persist on Thursday

Bundle up for another bitter day!

  Don't shoot the messenger. The Bloomfield Weatherman foresees freezing temperatures for Thursday, so be prepared! The day will be mostly sunny with a high of 24 F, according to weather.com. And while the thermometer may tell you its in the low 20s, it will really feel like single digits.  For commuters, the temperature will remain in the low teens before 8 a.m.  The night will be clear and be accompanied by low of 11 F.  The sunrise is scheduled for 7:14 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:05 p.m.  And if you are keeping track of the lunar calendar, the moon will rise at 3:05 p.m. and set at 5:10 a.m. on Friday.

Bloomfield Board of Ed. Meets Tonight
