Bleeding Bloomfield Man Arrested for Assaulting Police
Suspect was transported to hospital after aggressive incident near Quick Chek on Broad Street.
A Bloomfield man who was shirtless, bleeding and drunk was arrested on July 30 on charges of aggravated assault of police officers, resisting arrest and throwing bodily fluids, according to the police department. The incident happened after three officers were called to Quick Chek on Broad Street at 1:36 am after a report that a highly intoxicated man exiting the store was bleeding profusely. Upon arrival, police said they found John Hemeleski, Jr., 46, standing at the corner of Broad Street and James Street with a gray shirt wrapped around his left hand that was still visibly bleeding badly.
