BHS Thespian Society Presents “The Trojan Women” at Bloomfield College

Play takes place at Bloomfield college this weekend.

Like the Iliad or the Odyssey, “The Trojan Women” is centered on the Trojan War. But where Homer told epic stories of heroism, Euripides’ play focuses on grim decisions made by helpless people in the aftermath of war.

Set after the sacking of Troy, the tragedy follows the plight of women who survived the destruction of their city and the slaughter of their men. As they await their new lives as the slaves of their captors, the women examine both their lost way of life, and the meaning of fate.

The play features a cast of twenty-five Bloomfield High School students and is supported by a crew of seven. Brandon E. Doemling is producing and directing.
