Superintendent Sessions, Softball Game

Patch's picks for the week in Bloomfield.

At noon on Monday, U.S. Senator Robert Menendez is scheduled to visit Bloomfield High School and join with students, faculty and counselors from Family Connections’ Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Team (ADAPT) to announce federal funding aimed at helping fight adolescent drug and alcohol abuse in New Jersey.

The Bloomfield Township Council meets for a regular meeting on Monday night at 7 p.m. at the council chambers.

The Board of Education will present three superintendent finalists at an informal Q&A session at 4 p.m. at the Bloomfield High School’s auditorium on Tuesday. The public can attend and listen.

District stakeholder representatives groups like the home and school associations, Bloomfield booster clubs and the Bloomfield Education Foundation will ask questions.

On Wednesday night, members of Bloomfield’s police department take on visiting law enforcement from Puerto Rico in a friendly softball game at 5  p.m. at Pulaski park. Admission is free.

Also on Wednesday night, Councilman Nicholas Joanow invites Second Ward residents to the first of his planned monthly meet and greets at 7:30 at the conference room of the iHop on 1129 Broad Street.  Joanow will lead a discussion of the proposed Dunkin' Donuts at the intersection of West/East Passaic Avenue at the current Getty gas station.
