Clara Maass Holds Golf Outing

Fundraiser Benefits New Cancer Center

The Clara Maass Medical Center (CMMC) Foundation’s annual Golf Invitational took place on Tuesday, June 7, at the Montclair Golf Club in West Orange. Morth than 200 golfers and guests participated in the annual event, which raised more than $217,000 to help fund a newly expanded state-of-the-art Cancer Center at CMMC.

“The new Cancer Center will enhance the outstanding services we provide to our oncology patients,” said Mary Ellen Clyne, executive director of Clara Maass Medical Center. “A few highlights that I can share at this time will include digital mammography, a boutique which will offer high quality cancer-related and specialty products; and additional space to provide education and support services.”

In addition to a day on the green, attendees enjoyed a cocktail and awards dinner reception, a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction. Special guests included former Yankee and Major League baseball catcher Rick Cerone and anchor of the WABC-TV morning and noon news, Ken Rosato, who attended the cocktail and dinner portion of the evening and assisted with the awards ceremony.

Honorary Sponsors included Prismatic Development Corporation, SEI Investment Management, and the Clara Maass medical staff; Clara Maass Auxiliary, Genesis Health Care, QualCare, Inc., and Valley National Bank sponsored brunch; and Hudson Construction, Inc., Kearny Federal Savings, and Power Electric Co., Inc., sponsored the silent auction.

“Thanks to the generosity of our golfers and sponsors, the new Cancer Center at Clara Maass MedicalCenter project is underway,” said Jane Newman Kessler, CFRE, Vice President, Clara Maass Medical Center Foundation.  “The philanthropy demonstrated by these individuals, businesses and organizations enable us to continue to provide our patients and community with the most comprehensive cancer care.”
