Fourth of July Celebration Features Games, Rides, Fireworks

JFK Drive will be closed to traffic Thursday from 5 p.m. until the end of the fireworks.

Fireworks return to Foley Field on the Fourth. But that’s not all.

Bloomfield’s fireworks kick off at 9:20 p.m. Before they launch, Bloomfield families can enjoy music, games and rides starting at 7:30 p.m.

Sponsored by Bloomfield’s Recreation Department and Investors Bank, the event’s attractions include kid-friendly activities such as free inflatable rides and face painting as well as music from Powerhouse DJs.

And, new for 2013: a place to sit. For the first time since Foley Field renovation began, its bleachers are open for seating. Residents wishing to sit on the field are asked to bring blankets only; no lawn chairs will be allowed.

Amusements, food vendors, music and ceremonies will all take place within Foley Field stadium. Fireworks will be set up and launched from Memorial Park, which will be closed to the public for the day.

No food, drink or gum will be allowed within the fenced-in area of the stadium. Per Board of Education Policy, no pets or smoking are allowed in the Foley Field either.

JFK Drive will be closed to traffic from 5 p.m. until the end of the fireworks, with only limited parking, such as handicapped parking, allowed on the street.

Admission is free for children five and under and Senior Citizens, $1 for ages 6-18 and $2 for 18 and up.
