Serhiy Kralka Named BHS May Athlete of the Month

Serhiy Kralka recently captured his second consecutive Essex County shot put championship. He is the first Bengal athlete to win this event in back to back years since 1960-1961.

He and teammate Assad Younas won shut put relays at Kearny, Walkill valley, Morris Hills, Millburn and the Essex county relays. Serhiy teamed with Marcell Lazard to win the discus event at the county relays.          

Serhiy has been a scholar athlete throughout his high school career. He has a weighted GPA of 3.8 and is ranked in the top twenty-five percent of his class. Serhiy will attend Suny-Binghamton University in the fall on a track scholarship.

He has served as team captain for the track and field squad. Serhiy also lettered in football this year.The track team assists the recreation junior track program.     

The Bloomfield High School athlete of the month award is sponsored by the Brookdale Shop-rite, which will make a donation to the Bloomfield United Way in recognition of each month’s winner.
