BOE Announce Informal Q&A Sessions for Superintendent Finalists

The Board will hold a meeting for members of school associations and one for the general public.

Bloomfield BOE President Emily M. Smith announced this week that school groups and members of the public can meet with finalists for the School District Superintendent position.

The Board of Education will hold an informal Q&A session with representatives of the Home and School Association, SEPAC, the Music Parents Association, Bloomfield booster clubs, and the Bloomfield Education Foundation starting at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at the Bloomfield High School auditorium. Members of those groups are invited to attend the meeting.

On Sept. 17, finalists will be presented separately in a 45-minute session that will begin with a five-minute introduction followed by 40 minutes of questions from the audience. The board asks that questions be brief, and that questioners should consider stating their association to give the question context.

Meeting attendees will receive a copy of each candidate’s resume and a card on which comments or questions for the BOE’s consideration can be given. The announcement said greater weight will be given to cards that include a name and address or association than anonymous ones.

The Board asks that attendees RSVP with the name of their representative to Carolyn Caggiano by Friday, September 6.

The general public is invited to a second meeting with two finalist candidates on Wednesday, Sept. 25 in the BHS auditorium. Dr. Barbara Strobert, a Seton Hall educator who facilitated other superintendent meetings for the BOE, will moderate both sessions. Per the announcement, Board members will attend the sessions as observers.
