Nicholas J. Dotoli Appointed BOE Director of Human Resources/Labor Relations

Bloomfield School District attorney since 2008, Dotoli was nominated for the new position at the November 22 BOE meeting

 

The Bloomfield Board of Education has unanimously approved Superintendent Jason Bing’s recommendation to nominate Mr. Nicholas J. Dotoli as Bloomfield’s incoming Director of Human Resources/Labor Relations. 

Dotoli will join central office to oversee all personnel operations (including recruitment and hiring), district-wide professional development and training, strategic planning and general education legal services. Dotoli began representing the district in 2008 as an attorney with the firm Schwartz, Edelstein, Simon & Celso, New Jersey’s largest education law firm.

Previously, Dotoli served as an aide to the New Jersey Assembly Education Committee and as a policy advisor to the State Commissioner of Education for ten (10) years.  Dotoli regularly trains educators and administrators across the State on topics ranging from the Open Public Meetings Act and government records disclosure to legal compliance with the new law prohibiting harassment, intimidation and bullying. 

A NJ licensed school administrator, Dotoli holds a B.A. from Wesleyan University, an Ed.M. in Educational Leadership, Administration & Policy from Harvard University and a J.D. from Rutgers Law School.  He practices law in New Jersey, New York and before the United States District Court for the District of NJ.
