Former BOE President Resigning From Board

Board has posted announcement seeking replacement on district website.

Former School Board president Mary Shaughnessy is resigning from the Board entirely, according to an item on this week’s school board agenda.

The school board will accept her resignation at the Tuesday night meeting. The board is looking for a replacement for her seat, which will expire in 2015. Interested candidates are asked to contact the School Board secretary by Monday, Sept. 30

Shaughnessy has been on the board since 2009. She stepped down from the role as president in June citing personal and family reasons.

On her 2012 campaign website, she said monitoring district operations and attending school functions as board president required at least 25 hours per week.

Emily Smith became president in an anonymous board vote following Shaughnessy’s announcement.
