"Junior Master Gardener Training"

"Junior Master Gardener Training" is appropriate for all adults, including Master Gardeners, teachers/educators from schools and youth serving organizations.   Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Essex County and the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs are presenting a one-day kick-off training of the Junior Master Gardener (JMG) program. Training will cover all of the "need to know basics of starting and running a JMG program and will showcase approximately 30 activities for the level one JMC curriculum.  The JMG curriculum out of Texas Cooperative Extension is jam-packed with excellent activities in the areas of plant growth and development, soils and water, environment, insects, fruits and vegetables, etc. GROUPS DO NOT NEED A GARDEN FOR JMG.  The program can be delivered in school, as a club, through 4-H afterschool, as a camp, etc.  Groups can register and certify their youth participants - requirements will be discussed.  Cost is $25 per adult (including refreshments and lunch).  Curriculum books will be available on the training day for an additional fee.
