Brookdale School's Book Drive Brings in 275 Books

Donations to go to Union Beach Public Library to replace works damaged during Sandy.

Brookdale Elementary School students spent Read Across America Week working to help the Union Beach Public Library, a Jersey Shore library hit hard by Hurricane Sandy.

Over the course of the week, Brookdale Students collected used and new non fiction books to replace the library's collection of nonfiction books was destroyed during Hurricane Sandy.

The book drive was organized by Kindergarten teachers, Ms. Lauren Kelly and Mrs. Francesca Jaffe.  Accompanied by a group of students, Kelly and Jaffe brought the donated books to the library on March 4 to the delight of the head children's librarian.
