• The Bengal Bowling team made big noise at the Essex County Tournament finishing in second place behind only State ranked #3 Livingston. Cristian Vega topped all bowlers with a whopping 703 series. Jon Festa, Maryrose Marcaida, Andrew Coco and Christina Spithogiannis round out the Bengal five. Marcaida had the second highest game and series among girls that participated.

• Boys Basketball raised their record to 7-2 with a convincing win over the Millers of Millburn. Jameel Patterson tallied 24 for the Bengals. Keith Barrow filled in at point guard and did an admirable job.

• Girls Basketball edged closer to .500 with a hard fought win over MKA. Briana LaFiura’s clutch free throws iced it for the home squad.

• Wrestling split four contests; defeating Livingston and Ridgefield Park and succumbing to North Bergen and Passaic Valley. The Livingston match came down to the last bout where Sergio Santiago valiantly battled to secure the win for Bloomfield.

•  Indoor track performed well at the North Jersey Invitational. Carissa Smith second in the 55M Hurdles; Steve Taste 3rd in the 55M hurdles. The 4X800 relay team also placed.

Bengals Trivia

Last week’s question: George Cella is the All-time leader in victories as Boys' Basketball Coach at BHS.  Who is second?

Answer:  Although better known for his football prowess, Bill Foley won over 300 games as Bengal Basketball Coach.
