BEF Seeks Community's "Time, Talent and Treasure"

Bloomfield Educational Foundation Fundraiser, set for April 21, still needs volunteers.

The date has been set for the Bloomfield Educational Foundation Gala, but volunteers are still being sought for the Annual Gala Committee.

The event will take place Saturday, April 21 from 6:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. at the Forest Hill Field Club.  In addition to dinner, the foundation will be raffling off select merchandise to raise funds for BEF initiatives.

"The BEF acts as the official alumni association for Bloomfield High School," said Ann Dassing, Executive Director of the organization.  "Part of what we try and provide is a place for alumni to reconnect, beyond (or sometimes instead of) a reunion for a specific class."

This year's theme is The Second Century of Excellence, as the event is coming off the cential celebration of the high school last year.  There will be several honorees (who have not yet been announced), including a male and female alumnus, an educator of the year and a community support group.

"We typically don't have a band, as we've found that people really like to talk and catch up during these events," said Dassing.

The BEF is looking for volunteers to solicit advertisements for the evening’s commemorative ad journal, identify companies for sponsorships, and to work on the merchandise raffle committee. "We're looking for people with time, talents or treasure," said Madeline Wollner, BEF Vice Chairman.

The Bloomfield Educational Foundation was founded in 1999 as a 501-c-3 charity to enhance the educational experience for all Bloomfield students.  To date, the BEF has given away over a half of a million dollars to fund teacher grants, technology initiatives, after school programs, and scholarships.  To get involved as an event volunteer, call BEF Executive Director, Ann Dassing at 973-403-0032 or email the Foundation at info@bloomfieldeducationalfoundation.org .
