BEF Gala Honors a Century of Excellence in Bloomfield

The Bloomfield Educational Foundation's "2nd Century of Excellence" honored four members of the community who made significant contributions to education in the township

 

A spectacular gala was held on April 21 to honor Bloomfield residents who have made great contributions to the community and to education.

Patricia Gibson Carter, Bloomfield High School Class of '49, was a special honoree at The Bloomfield Educational Foundation’s  “2nd Century of Excellence” annual dinner at The Forest Hill Field Club.

Additional honorees included Mark Sceurman ‘75, who received the Alumnus of the Year Award, BHS Principal Christopher Jennings, who received the Educator of the Year Award and The St. Valentine’s Athletic Club, which received of The Friends of Bloomfield Schools Award.   

“Our honorees are great representatives of the Bloomfield Public School system and their recognition at The Bloomfield Educational Foundation’s Annual Gala is well deserved," said Michael L. Sceurman, Chairman of the BEF.  "I’d like to thank everyone who contributed to its success.  Now it is the charge of our board to make sure that these funds make a positive impact on the students of the Bloomfield Public Schools.”

Madeline Wollner, BEF Vice-Chairman and Gala Dinner Chairman was equally proud of the event and the honorees. 

“Our honorees are perfect examples of dedication, commitment and service to the Bloomfield Community," said Wollner.  "They provide inspiration to today's students. Our guests, advertisers and donors provide us with the financial support to continue the Foundation's commitment to provide creative educational opportunities for the students of the Bloomfield Public Schools.”
