3 Open Seats in Upcoming Board of Ed. Election

File your nominating petition now!

There are three open seats on the Bloomfield Board of Education in this year's election.

Candidates can now submit their petitions to run for a seat on the Board of Education. Each seat carries a full term of three years.

Petitions can be found online by clicking here, or in the photo gallery of this article.

Candidates must file a nominating petition with the local school board in order to get their name on the ballot for the upcoming election.

The deadline to submit a nominating petition is 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25.

The election will be held on Tuesday, April 16.

The New Jersey School Boards Association also provides a comprehensive School Board Candidate Kit online, which can be found by clicking here.

The Candidate Kit includes a nominating petition, information about legal qualifications for school board candidacy and the role of the school board member. Information about the New Jersey School Ethics Act and important dates in the school election process are also included in the kit.

Not clear on whether incumbents are running.

I got the impression that the BOE was still uncertain about the election date, as there was some question about weather the town council was going to leave well enough alone and leave the election date as Tuesday, April 16, or move it to November. I would hope they leave as is. We don't need our BOE candidates running on political lines.
