Leaf Collection to Follow Recycling Schedule

Township leaf collection will begin October 31

"The leaf collection schedule will follow the township recycling schedule," stated Anthony Nesto,  Bloomfield Director of Public Works and Park Maintenance on Thursday.  "Starting on Monday, October 31, it will be all hands on deck."

Nesto said residents should place leaves in biodegradable bags at the curb on the same days as recycling.  Though the Essex County's Department of Public Works has stated that residents on other parts of the county can sweep loose leaves into piles at the curb, Nesto says that, in Bloomfield, leaves will only be picked up if they are properly bagged.

Nesto said Brookdale Park and Watsessing Park are the only places where the county is responsible for leaf removal in Bloomfield.  "Every other leaf in town falls under our jurisdiction," he said. "That includes every street and every municipal park."
