Second Annual Bloomfield Charity Gala Oct. 3

Proceeds from charity fundraiser will benefit community programs

Mayor Raymond McCarthy will host the second annual Bloomfield Charity Gala Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m. at The Manor in West Orange.

The charity fundraiser is open to anyone and proceeds will go toward programs in Bloomfield that benefit residents, like Bloomfield police social services, the Neighbor-to-Neighbor program, local food banks, assistance with individual family utility bills and the United Way of Bloomfield.

"The economic crisis our nation is facing is evident right here in Bloomfield, and while much of our attention is on the campaign for the White House, our first shared priority should be on how we can help our own neighbors," said McCarthy in a press release.

"Our efforts last year had a meaningful impact, buying cots for the Family Day Nursery, helping to provide stocked back packs for local children heading back to school, and providing much needed support to Goals for Life for women with cancer," he added.

Last year, the charity gala raised $20,500 in donations for local organizations like United Way of Bloomfield and the Bloomfield Municipal Alliance.
