DPW Still Working On Clean Up

Department of Public Works Director Anthony Nesto says effort should be completed by the end of next week

Public Works Director Anthony Nesto says the town has completed approximately 70% of branch removal from township streets and sidewalks left in the wake of the freak October snow storm.

In an email to Patch, he wrote: “We have been using a ‘all hands on deck’ approach with this enormous responsibility and while we have additionally cleaned many stretches of our county roads, we expect some additional cooperation from Essex to help clean up the 14 plus miles of county roads in town.”

“All roads and sidewalks should be cleaned by the end of next week,” said Nesto.

Throughout this effort, the town is still picking up biodegradable leaf bags as part of the usual townwide recycling schedule.

“While all this is going on, we will continue to focus on hazardous tree pruning and removal,” said Nesto, while expressing gratitude from the entire Public Works and Park Maintenance Department for everyone’s patience while they do their work. He adds, "Starting next week, [residents who still have branches out] can call us and we will put them on a pickup list."
