Police: NJ Transit Train Crash Causes Power Outages

Cedar Grove is expecting power outages in the North End section of the township after a train slammed into a tractor-trailer in Little Falls.

The North End of Cedar Grove will be experiencing power outages Wednesday morning while PSE&G begins repairing power lines damaged in an early morning train crash in Little Falls, police said.

A tractor-trailer carrying paint was struck by a NJ Transit train on the Montclair-Boonton at 8:15 a.m. causing several injuries, a New Jersey Transit spokeswoman told NJ.com.

It has not yet been determined how many of the 66 passengers sustained injuries, she said.

NJ Transit is reporting the Montclair-Boonton line is shut down and a substitute bus service will be available.

What a terrible accident. I grew up in that area of little falls and in 1967 I remember a person jumped out in front of a train at the same crossing killing himself and the crossing guard tried to stop him but couldn't. John W from little falls
