Meet the Candidate: Elias Chalet

Elias Chalet is a thirty year Bloomfield resident and a successful business owner running for Bloomfield’s First Ward Council seat. Mr. Chalet’s business experience, commitment to economic revitalization, concern for Bloomfield’s natural environment, and drive for responsible government will make him an excellent voice for the First Ward and the wider Bloomfield community.

Mr. Chalet’s business experience, along with his tenure on the Business Advisory Board, makes him the ideal candidate to grow jobs in Bloomfield. His plans for economic expansion include the hiring of Bloomfield residents for local development projects, continuing the development of both Bloomfield Center and the North Center, and keeping taxes low to let residents keep more of their hard-earned money.

Mr. Chalet will also focus on Bloomfield’s natural treasures. To ensure that Bloomfield stays beautiful and that our children continue to enjoy the great outdoors, he will protect existing open space while encouraging further preservation efforts. Mr. Chalet will seek to improve Bloomfield’s parks and increase recreational opportunities to ensure that Bloomfield residents of all ages can enjoy active lives in fresh air settings.  Mr. Chalet’s commitment to the Bloomfield environment extends to municipal energy use as well. He will seek ways to increase energy efficiency in municipal buildings, making Bloomfield governance more sustainable while lowering utilities costs.

In addition to protecting Bloomfield’s natural spaces, residential and commercial space must be vigilantly attended to as well. Mr. Chalet will ensure that police and fire services in Bloomfield are maintained to keep our homes, streets, and businesses safe. Safe staffing levels for police patrols and fire response will be maintained to keep the 1st Ward secure.

Efficient, transparent, and responsible government are priorities for Mr. Chalet. He will keep himself accessible to residents through regular electronic communications and by opening his personal office up for meeting with constituents. He will insist on transparency in municipal government, ensuring that all Bloomfield residents can be aware of municipal government issues and accomplishments. To keep taxes low and governance efficient, he will hold municipal department heads directly responsible for meeting their budgets.

With his business knowhow, concern for Bloomfield’s outdoor resources, and commitment to responsible service, Elias Chalet is an ideal candidate to represent the 1st Ward on the Municipal Council.

On Thursday night, October 27 a "Meet the Candidate" Forum will take place at Bloomfield College’s Van Fossan Theatre from 7:00 - 9:00 pm.  The public is invited to meet the local contestants running for the three ward council seats on the ballot in the November 8 general election.
