Flags to be Flown at Half-Staff Friday

Gov. Chris Christie signs executive order to honor U.S. Army Sgt. from New Jersey killed in combat.

N.J. Gov. Chris Christie signed an executive order this week for all State buildings to fly flags at half-staff on Friday, August 12, 2011.

The purpose is to honor the service and sacrifice of U.S. Army Sgt. Alessandro Plutino of New Jersey who lost his life on August 8 serving on active duty in Afghanistan, according to a release from the governor's office.

Sgt. Plutino was an Army Ranger and Rifle Team Leader in B Company, 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. He graduated from Pitman High School in Pitman in 2001.
