Councilman Michael Venezia will do a ride along with Bloomfield Police Saturday, Sept. 14 from 9 PM – 3 AM, according to an announcement by his Mayoral campaign.
In the announcement, Venezia said he wants to see first hand, in a real time environment what Bloomfield Police officers face on a day to day basis.
“I have the utmost respect for Bloomfield’s finest and I want to have a better understanding as to what the patrol cop is up against day in and day out, “Venezia said. "This experience will be a valuable tool when the Governing Body needs to make decisions regarding the needs of the department.”
Venezia is scheduled to be in a squad car while police respond to whatever calls come up during his six hour observation.
