Bloomfield's political voting ward boundaries will have to be redrawn this year because of higher population numbers, and officials are seeking help from the public.
The Bloomfield Ward Commission will be accepting written proposals for redrawing the ward boundaries and two special meetings on the topic will be held 5:30 p.m. July 26 and 27 at the Essex County Hall of Records, 465 Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard, Room 413, Newark.
The township's population according to the census is 15,306 people in Ward 1; 15,100 people in Ward 2 and 16,909 people in Ward 3. Only Ward 3 is above the population limit by 348 people.
Bloomfield Township Clerk Louise Palagano said the meetings are open to the public. Redistricting proposals need to be filed with the commission by 5 p.m. July 26, prior to the first meeting.
