Two Suspects Arrested in Armed Robbery of Chinese Restaurant

The following information was provided by the Bloomfield Police Department. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

On Friday night, 9/23/2011, at approximately 11:45 p.m., the “Chopstick House” Chinese restaurant located at #2 Bloomfield Ave in Bloomfield was held up and robbed by two suspects.

The victim reports that a hand gun was used and the suspects fled the scene. Patrol units responded to the scene and the area to conduct a search. Patrol Officers Sean Courter and Thomas Icolari located two possible suspects on North 15th Street. The two suspects immediately fled on foot into the rear yards of North 15th Street.

Both suspects refused to comply with the officers' verbal commands to stop. Officer Icolari continued his foot pursuit and Officer Courter reentered his patrol vehicle to cut off the suspects' avenue of escape.

Officer Courter re-contacted one of the suspects on North 13th Street, observing the suspect entering rear yards on North 13th. Officer Courter exited his vehicle and chased the suspect into the rear yards and over several fences. When Officer Courter caught up to the suspect, the suspect refused to obey Officer Courter’s verbal commands. The suspect reached into his pants, as if reaching for a weapon,  and Courter tackled the suspect to the ground. The suspect resisted arrest violently, punching Courter in the face as they fought.

Backup Officer Orlando Trinidad then entered the rear yard via climbing over a fence. Officer Trinidad sustained a large laceration to his right hand caused by the fence. Officer Trinidad was also punched in his face by the violent suspect. Both officers finally subdued and handcuffed the suspect. The suspect had the robbery proceeds on him, $153.25. The suspect was positively identified by the victim.

The Suspect was transported to H.Q. for processing. While being transported to H.Q., and while at H.Q., the suspect made verbal threats to the officers. The aforementioned suspect is identified as: Mr. Zahkee Jones of Newark, New Jersey. Mr. Jones also had outstanding warrants totaling $6,500.00.

 

Mr. Zahkee Jones was charged with:

2x’s Aggravated assault on a P.O.

Conspiracy to commit robbery

Resisting arrest

Hindering via physical force

Robbery

Possession of a weapon

Possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose

 

Bail set at $350K per Honorable Judge Paparazzo.

 

Additionally; the search continued for the second suspect. A citizen reported that one of the suspects was seen crawling across garage rooftops and had dropped down into a rear yard on 15th Street. Officer Daniel Freitag searched the rooftops and entered the rear yards on 15th Street.  Officer Freitag located and arrested the second suspect. The search for the handgun was negative.  This suspect is identified as Mr. Idrees McCrimmon of Newark NJ.

 

Mr. Idrees McCrimmon was charged with:

Conspiracy to commit robbery

Hindering via flight

Robbery  

 

Bail set at $250K per Honerable Judge Paparazzo.
