UPDATE: Suspect Captured for Attempted Assault and Robbery at Home Depot

Newark man detained on multiple charges by Bloomfield Police

 

The Bloomfield Police Department has detained Jose Quinones, 42, of Newark, for the robbery of the Orange Street Home Depot store and the attempted assault of an employee on Monday, February 6. 

Quinones is being held by police on defiant criminal trespass, robbery and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose after he allegedly tried to slash the employee with a utility knife while attempting to rob merchandise from the store.

According to the , the suspect then fled the scene with the stolen merchandise, escaping in a waiting car in the store's parking lot.

Bloomfield Police Captain Joe Pulido stated on Tuesday morning that a positive I.D. of the suspect was discovered through the Home Depot's video suveillance cameras and through the Department of New Jersey Motor Vehicles' photo database.

According to Pulido, Quinones was detained by the Union Police Department and turned over to the Bloomfield Police Department at approximately 7:30 pm on Monday night. "We served him with his robbery warrant and took possession of the vehicle that was used in the robbery," he said.

Pulido noted that Quinones is currently being investigated for additional robberies.

"This authority has notified surrounding jurisdictions and Home Depot stores in the area. The supect is at this time being investigated for additional robberies in other jurisdictions."
