Building Super Assaulted, Robbed in Basement
Man was punched, knocked to the ground and robbed as he fixed a door lock, police said.
An apartment superintendent was assaulted and robbed while he worked in the basement of his building, police said.
Police said a thin, muscular, black male with dreadlocks attacked the superintendent, a 69-year-old man from Pinewood, while the he repaired a door lock in the basement of the Franklin Street building on Saturday at 10:25 a.m. The robber called for the super and punched him when he turned to see who it was, police said.
Police said the blow knocked the superintendent to the ground and disoriented him. The robber reached into the victim’s pockets and took his cell phone, wallet and $300 in cash while he was on the ground, police said.

The victim was taken to a hospital for injuries to his face and eye. A witness told investigators they saw a thin black male with short dreadlocks wearing a white tank top and khaki shorts speeding from the building on a BMX-style bicycle.
The witness also said the man tossed his bike over a fence in the rear of the building then climbed the fence and rode the bike onto Newark Avenue.
