Stolen Debit Card Links Jailed Man to Bloomfield Robberies, Police Say

Video footage of man using debit card connects him to two robberies, according to report.

A man jailed in Middlesex County has been connected to two robberies in Bloomfield earlier this month, police said.

Bloomfield police said thieves stole a wallet in a July 6 robbery and used the victim’s debit card at several Bloomfield locations hours after the incident.

In one instance when the stolen card was used, security cameras filmed a white SUV that fit the description of a vehicle used in a John F. Kennedy Dr. robbery on July 9, police said.

Bloomfield police had previously reported that in the July 9 robbery, the thieves punched and knocked the victim to the ground.

Police said the investigation connected Ken Anderson, of no certain address, to the white SUV and the robberies.

Judge John A. Paparazzo issued an arrest warrant for robbery against Anderson.

Detectives determined Anderson was already in custody in Middlesex County Correctional Facility on an unrelated matter. Police visited the facility to charge Anderson with robbery for the incidents in Bloomfield.

Also arrested in connection with the use and possession of the stolen credit cards was a Diedre Martin, 44, of Bloomfield. Martin was released and was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

Detectives Harry Norris and Chad Smith were the lead investigators on the robberies reported on July 6 and July 9 at 261 Franklin St. and on John F. Kennedy Dr., respectively.

Police said the investigation is ongoing in an attempt to locate other accomplices who may have been involved.
