Bloomfield police say men had shattered a car window and tampered with ignition before police caught them.

Bloomfield police officers interrupted two East Orange men in the middle of an attempted car theft, police said.

Officers responded to a report of two suspicious men sitting in a car near Berkeley Avenue and Fairview Place at 9:45 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, according to a report.

The two men inside the car, Darrell Diggs, 29, and Davonte Mitchell, 20, reportedly fled the car when Bloomfield Officers Robert Kish and Godson Noel flashed the lights on their squad car.
