Police: Men Used Fake Gun in Failed Robbery Attempt

Replica weapon reportedly shattered when wrested from man's hands.

Police say two men unsuccessfully attempted to rob a Montgomery street store last weekend.

According to a police report, on Saturday, March 2, two men entered a store on the 100 block of Montgomery St. intending to rob the business. The owner reportedly confronted the first man, prompting the second man to pull his shirt over his own face.

Police say the first man to enter pulled out a black handgun—which later turned out to be fake—and told the victim, "give me the money."

While police say the victim didn't yet know the gun was fake, he was evidently undaunted by the man's demands. The store employee reportedly grabbed the alleged burglar's hand and struggled with him, causing the gun to drop to the floor and shatter.

Both of the suspects, described as black males, approximately 5’ 11” with medium builds, fled without any proceeds.
