Police Report Residential Burglaries, Vehicle Thefts Around Town

The following information has been provided by the Bloomfield Police Department. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

BURGLARY 

Residential Burglaries

Oct. 19: Someone tried to enter a home on the 50 block of Waldo Avenue between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. by damaging the rear door lock and a window. No entry was gained.

Oct. 19: An apartment resident reported someone entered his apartment on the 100 block of Hill Street by breaking the door lock. The resident reported a laptop computer and $1,000 were taken. 

Oct. 20: A woman reported a man was pulling on her locked screen door trying to get into her house on the 100 block of Chester Avenue around 7:35 p.m.

The man, described as 5-foot, 7-inches tall and wearing a black sweatshirt, fled on foot towards Grove Street when he was seen by the woman. 

Oct. 20: A woman living at 256 Brookdale Gardens reported someone broke into the storage unit of her apartment and stole clothing, toys, a remote control and several lamps. 

Oct. 21: A woman reported someone entered her apartment at 214 Franklin St. through a kitchen window and stole a Samsung pink laptop, a TG black laptop and various other items while she was sleeping. There were no signs of forced entry. 

Oct. 24:  225 Belleville Ave. A man told police his business, located at 225 Belleville Ave., was burglarized sometime between Oct. 21 and Oct. 24. Items taken during the burglary included two generators, a power washer and a paint sprayer.

COMMERCIAL 

Stolen Vehicle

Oct. 17: A 2009 Infinity was stolen from Coolidge Avenue. 

Attempt Theft Of Vehicles

Oct. 23: The door lock was broken on a 1998 Acura at 49 Patton Dr. 

Oct. 23: The door lock was broken on a Ford at the intersection of Bloofield Avenue and Park Street. 

Theft From Vehicles

Oct. 16:  Someone broke into a car on East Liberty Street and took an iPod, headphones and $10. 

Theft 

Oct. 19:  A man living on the 100 block of Hill Street reported someone stole eight rims and tires from the side of his home. 

Oct. 21:  A man living on the 230 block of North 15th Street  said a man took a package from his steps. It could not be determined at this time what was taken. 

Robbery

Oct. 19:  A man brandishing a hammer entered The Happy Ming Restaurant, 456 Broad St. at 4:30 p.m. and told employees to open the cash register. An employee then grabbed a nearby knife and the suspect fled out the back door of the restaurant emptyhanded.

Oct. 24: A woman on the 220 block of Hoover Avenue said a man put a gun to her head and demanded cash after approaching her in her driveway. The woman turned over her cash and the suspect fled into a black 4-door vehicle, possibly a Honda. 

Criminal Mischief

Oct. 21:  The rear window of a 2001 Nissan on the 100 block of Oakland Avenue was broken. There are no suspects. 

Oct. 22: A United States flag on the lawn of a home on the 400 block of Berkeley Avenue was set on fire. There are no suspects. 

Oct. 22: The driver’s side window on a 2004 Saturn was smashed on the 250 block of Spruce Street. There are no suspects. 

Oct. 23:  Several pieces of a fence on the 150 block of Orange Street were broken. There are no suspects. 

Oct. 23: The passenger side mirror on a 2008 Honda was smashed on at 770 Broad St. There are no suspects. 

MISCELLANEOUS 

Arrests

Oct. 20:  Brian Anthony Fernandez of Bloomfield was arrested on outstanding warrants. 

Oct. 20:  David Bell of Bloomfield was arrested for outstanding warrants.

Oct. 23: Jihad Meadows of Bloomfield was arrested for shoplifting.
