Police Blotter: Two Gas Stations Robbed

Police suspect one man was responsible for both incidents.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

May 16:
Between 11 a.m. and 12:45 p.m., someone broke into a home and stole a Sony television, a PlayStation 3 game system and video games. 

May 17: Police reported someone broke into a trailer next to a home in the 100 block of Orange Street and stole a compressor, two finish nail guns, two Brad guns, a staple gun, a roof gun, a frame gun, a circular saw, two plain saws, two jigsaws, and one trim saw.
May 20: Police reported someone entered a shed and stole two gallons of gas in the 50 block of North End Terrace.
May 20: At an apartment in the 270 block of Bloomfield Avenue, a laptop computer and jewelry were stolen between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Also, Bloomfield police reported the burglary of two laptop computers and a digital camera from another apartment at the same address.
May 20: Bloomfield police said someone attempted to enter two apartments on Molter Place by prying open doors, but were unable to do so.
May 23: At a Day Street garage, someone broke in and stole a gas container, electrical cords, a construction box and a lamp.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY

May 20:
Bloomfield police reported someone broke a rear window and entered a building on the 1000 block of Broad Street. Nothing was reported missing.
 May 20: A cash register was reported stolen from a business on the 800 block of Broad Street. Bloomfield police said someone used a rock to smash the front window of the business.

STOLEN VEHICLES

May 23:
A white, 2003 Ford van with the New Jersey plates XV762L was reported stolen from Baldwin Place.

ATTEMPT THEFT OF VEHICLES

May 21:
At Grove Street, a person reported that someone had broken into his vehicle and popped the ignition in an attempt to steal the car.

ROBBERY


May 16: A shoplifter at a store on the 100 block of Bloomfield Avenue stole an item, broke free of two store clerks and fled on a bicycle, Bloomfield police said.
May 17: An armed bearded African-American man struck two gas stations within minutes of each other on Bloomfield Avenue.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

May 18:
A person reported someone smashed the front windshield of her car parked in the 300 block of Hoover Avenue.
May 18: In the 100 block of North 15th Street, a car’s rear passenger window was smashed.

May 23: In the 20 block of Thomas Street, someone had keyed the hood of a car.

ARRESTS


May 18:
Joshua Jackson of Byron was arrested for drunken driving.
May 20: Rhett Ellis of Union was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
May 22: Wilberth Ortiz-Fonseca of Bloomfield was arrested for burglary and terroristic threats.

May 22: Tamessar Vijaya of Newark was arrested for car burglary and possession of burglary tools.
May 23: Poran Singh of Montclair was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

May 23: Caralyn Sally of Bloomfield was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and endangering a child’s welfare.
May 23: Joshua Pizarro of Newark was arrested for contempt.
May 23: Eduardo Leyva of Newark was arrested and charged with robbery.
