Police Blotter: Series of Spray-Painting Incidents on Broughton Avenue

Strong-armed robbery reported in the CVS parking lot on Glenwood Avenue

Stolen Vehicles

April 20: A 1996 four-door, red Oldsmobile with New Jersey license plate number JBV26P was stolen off the 100 block of N. Spring Street.

April 23: A 1995 four-door Jeep Cherokee with New Jersey license plate number YCW42N was stolen off the 100 block of Walnut Street.

Attempted Theft of Vehicles

April 21: A person reported someone had broken into her vehicle parked on the 100 block of Pitt Street and ripped apart the steering column in an attempt to steal her vehicle.

Theft from Vehicles

April 24: A person reported that at 5:02 p.m., he observed someone enter his vehicle on Locust and Prospect streets, steal a GPS unit and run to JFK Drive South.

Theft

April 20: A person reported that her locker was broken into and her wallet was stolen from the 400 block of Bloomfield Avenue.

Robbery

April 23: A person reported that at 4:28 p.m., she was the victim of a purse-snatching strong-armed robbery in the CVS parking lot on Glenwood Avenue. The victim reported she was robbed by a suspect, described as a black man, who entered her vehicle and stole her pocketbook while punching her in the face. The suspect then fled the area in a gold, mid-sized vehicle. A second suspect, described as a black man, was driving the vehicle.

Criminal Mischief

April 19: A person reported someone broke the rear window of her vehicle on Floyd Avenue.

A person reported someone scratched the paint on his vehicle and slashed all four of the tires. The vandalism has occurred over the period of six weeks.

A person reported someone spray-painted lettering on her front door of a residence on the 200 block of North 15th Street.

April 23: Officials from the library reported someone broke several items in the building, including a computer, before fleeing the area. The suspect was apprehended by police.

April 24: A person reported someone used white spray paint on their mailbox at a residence on Fritz and Broughton avenues.

A person reported someone spray-painted the basketball court in white lettering at Pulaski Park.

A person reported someone spray-painted her vehicle with lettering on the 200 block of Broughton Avenue.

A person reported someone spray-painted her vehicle with lettering on the 200 block of Broughton Avenue.

A person reported someone ripped the rear windshield wiper off his vehicle on the 100 block of Warren Street.

April 26: A person reported someone slashed the tires on the driver side of her vehicle and scratched both sides of the vehicle, parked on the 900 block of Broad Street.

Arrests

April 19: Frank Daddario of Kearny was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Edward B. Hunter of East Orange was arrested for theft and defiant trespass.

April 20: An adult Bloomfield woman was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia while at Wrights Field.

Juan Santiago of Bloomfield was arrested for hindering apprehension by providing false information about his identity.

Gerard Steele II of Bloomfield was arrested and charged with burglary, possession of marijuana , and possession of drug paraphernalia.

April 21: Jeffrey W. Ash of East Orange was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Dariene Becherer of Belleville was arrested for shoplifting.

April 23: Paul Wagner Jr. of Bloomfield was arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and drinking in public.

Clifford M. White of East Orange was arrested and charged with burglary into a vehicle and criminal mischief.

Leander C. Jones of East Orange was arrested and charged with burglary into a vehicle and criminal mischief.

April 24: John Stykes of Bloomfield was arrested for possession of controlled dangerous substance.

April 26: Peter Dolan of Bloomfield was arrested for traffic warrants.
