Police Blotter: Officers Investigate Two Robberies and Many Minor Thefts

The following arrest information was provided by Bloomfield police. It does not indicate a conviction.

Commercial and Residential Burglaries

July 25
A business on the 160 block of Glenwood Avenue was broken into and sneakers, jeans, shoes and a change box was reported stolen.
July 26
An apartment on the 50 block of Monroe Place was broken into and two computers, two backpacks, a wallet containing credit cards and passports were reported missing.
July 23-26
A business on the 1400 block of Broad Street was broken into and three Dell laptops were reported stolen.
Aug. 1
A home on the 200 block Jerome Place was broken into and a flat screen computer monitor and jewelry were reported stolen.

Stolen Vehicles

July 28
A 2004 Jeep Liberty was reported stolen between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 7:20 a.m. Thursday from the 200 block of North 16 Street.
July 31
A 1995 Dodge was reported stolen from the 100 block of Essex Avenue. 
Aug. 1
A 1997 Acura was reported stolen between 11:30 p.m. Sunday and 3 a.m. Monday from the 300 block of Berkeley Avenue.

Attempt Theft Of Vehicles

July 26
An unknown person allegedly tried to steal a 2001 Ford Van parked on Collins Avenue. There was damage to both door locks and the ignition.

Theft From Vehicles


July 25
A vehicle on the 200 block of North 15 Street was broken into and a GPS system was reported stolen.
July 29
The rear window of a vehicle parked on the 200 block of North 16 Street was reported broken. Nothing was reported missing.
Aug. 1
A vehicle parked on Westinghouse Plaza had a window smashed in by a rock between 6:20 a.m. and 7:10 a.m. A cell phone, handbag, MP3 player and wallet was reported stolen.

THEFT

July 25
Used cooking oil was removed from a storage tank in the back of the IHOP on 1129 Broad St.
July 26
An unknown man ordered $50 worth of food from the State Street Diner at 9 State St. and left without paying.

Robbery

July 31
Two victims reported being threatened and robbed of money and passports at the intersection of Berkley Avenue and Fairview Place.
The two suspects, who carried handguns, were described as African-American men traveling in a turquoise Crown Victoria car.

Aug. 1

A man was threatened and robbed around 9:45 a.m. as he left a dialysis center by Belleville and Williamson avenues. The victim told police the suspect approached him from behind, stuck an object into his back, demanded a wallet then fled.
The suspect is described as African-American man in his 30s, 5-foot, 6-inches tall, with a medium skin tone.

July 25

A tire was slashed on a vehicle parked on 15 Ward St.
July 25

A woman reported that someone attempted to remove the headlights of her car and damage it while the vehicle was parked on Maolis Avenue and Thomas Street.
July 26

A vehicle was reported damaged while parked on Columbus Street.
July 27
A resident reported someone threw a rock through a bay window of a home on the 100 block of Liberty Street.
July 27
A car tire was slashed on a vehicle parked at 357 Broad St. July 29
The rear window of a vehicle was broken while it was parked on the 200 block of North 16 Street.
July 29 A front door window was reported broken from a home on the 30 block of Bloomfield Avenue.
July 29
The letters "APALP" were written in black magic marker on the door of a business on 5 Maolis Avenue.
July 29
A resident of Brookdale Gardens reported someone threw eggs on his parked vehicle.
July 30
A woman reported someone threw a brick through her vehicle's back window while it was parked on Columbus Avenue.

July 25
Hertilus Duvelsaint of East Orange was arrested for theft and receiving stolen property.
July 27
Wali Nails, of Bloomfield was arrested for outstanding warrants.
July 28
Elmwood Eley of West Orange was arrested for robbery.
July 29
James Boyne of Bloomfield was arrested for disorderly conduct.
July 29
William T. McGuire of East Orange was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
July 30
Phong Nguyen of Bloomfield was arrested for contempt.
July 31
Michael Malia of Bloomfield was arrested for driving while under the influence.
July 31
Robert Olivares of Bloomfield was arrested for simple assault.
Aug. 1
Roger Robinson of Bloomfield was arrested for obstruction and resisting arrest.
Aug. 1
Derek V. Gaters, of North Arlington, was arrested for outstanding warrants.
