Police Blotter: GPS Unit Stolen from Fire HQ

Armed robbery on Carteret Street where $100 is taken.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

May 12: In the 100 block of Davey Street, a person reported that an unknown suspect entered her apartment through an unlocked window and stole a computer and costume jewelry.

May 16: A person reported that someone had broken into her home in the 100 block of Lawrence Street between the hours of 11 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. and took a Sony television, a PlayStation 3 game system and video games.

STOLEN VEHICLES

May 9: A 2010, silver four-door Dodge Charger with the Florida plates 454 YSM was reported stolen from the 100 block of Dodd Street.

THEFT FROM VEHICLES

May 12: In the 200 block of North 16th Street, a vehicle was broken into and car stereo components were stolen.

May 13:  A person reported that electronic equipment was stolen out of his vehicle parked at Dodd Street and John F. Kennedy Drive.

May 14: A person reported that his vehicle parked in the 100 block of Oakland Avenue was broken into and the registration, insurance card, and a gas card were stolen.

May 14: A person reported that someone had entered his vehicle parked at the Fire Department Headquarters and stole a Magellan GPS unit and an unknown amount of loose change.

May 15: A person reported that someone had broken into his vehicle parked at the 300 block of Franklin Street and stole a GPS unit.

May 15: In the same area as the above incident, the 300 block of Franklin Street, another person reported that someone had broke into his vehicle and stole two umbrellas and a CD case.

THEFT
 
May 9: A person reported that someone had stolen his bicycle in the 50 block of Franklin Street. The victim said he last saw his bicycle at 6:30 p.m. and it was gone at 8:30 p.m.

May 9: At the Radio Shack in the 100 block of Franklin Street, an unknown black male took an iPad that was on display.

May 9: The resident at the 200 block of North 17th Street told police that someone had taken four-solar powered lights from her front lawn.

May 13: In the area of the 500 block of Bloomfield Avenue, a woman, who was furniture shopping, told police that someone had taken her pocketbook after she set it down on a table.

May 15: In the 50 block of Franklin Street, a person told police that an unknown suspect stole items out of his bag while he was not looking.

ROBBERY

May 11: A woman told police that a black male pointed a handgun at her while she was out walking near 17 Carteret Street at 7:10 p.m. The robber took her purse, which contained $100 and credit cards, and fled south with another black male on Cleveland Terrace.

May 16: At a store in the 100 block of  Bloomfield Avenue at 6 a.m., a shoplifting suspect fled on a bicycle after stealing an item and escaping the two store clerks.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

May 9: In the area of Lewis Street, a person reported that someone had smashed the rear, driver side window of his parked vehicle between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.

May 14: In the 500 block of Broad Street, a person reported that an unknown person broke the rear windshield of her vehicle.

May 15: After a person reported that water was rushing out of the field house in Pulaski Park, police determined that someone had broken a water pipe causing the flood.
     
ARRESTS

May 9: William Dunn of Montclair was arrested for driving under the influence.

May 11: Duray Davis of Piscataway was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on police officers, obstruction, and false imprisonment.

May 14: Hector Miranda of Hillside was arrested for possession of a handgun, possession of a defaced firearm, driving while intoxicated, and numerous motor vehicle violations.
