Police Blotter: Burglaries, Thefts and Arrests in Bloomfield

The following information has been provided by the Bloomfield Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

BURGLARY 

Residential Burglaries

Nov. 1: A homeowner on the 100 block of Clinton Street said her home, which she vacated because of a  power loss from the recent snowstorm, was broken into sometime between Oct. 31 and Nov. 1  through a rear window.

She reported the burglars took jewelry and electronics. 

Nov. 3: A woman said someone broke into her apartment at 375 Belleville Ave. and stole a box of jewelry.

Nov. 3: A woman living on the 400 block of Beardsley Avenue said someone she knows broke into her home and stole her laptop computer. 

Nov. 4: A woman said she left her home on the 100 block of Liberty Street at 12:30 p.m. and when she returned home 90 minutes later, she found the front window open. 

She reported a Wii gaming console with four controllers, a Dell laptop computer and a diamond ring were missing. 

COMMERCIAL 

Stolen Vehicles

Nov. 3: A green four-door 1997 Honda Civic was stolen from 214 Franklin St. 

Nov. 3: A white four-door 1993 Honda was stolen from 35 LaFrance Ave. 

Nov. 6: A black 2007 Cadillac was stolen from 255 Montgomery St. 

Attempt Theft Of Vehicles

Nov. 6: Thieves attempted to steal a 2000 Nissan Sentra from 30 Hill St. 

Theft From Vehicles

Nov. 1: A woman reported someone broke into her Toyota van on the 100 block of Linden Avenue and stole a Smartphone, a MacBook laptop, an Asus iPad transformer tablet and a black carry on bag. 

Nov. 3: A woman reported someone broke into her car on the 300 block of Berkley Avenue and stole $6 and a bag of groceries. 

Nov. 3: A man said someone broke into his car on the 200 block of Belleville Avenue and stole his tool belt and two drills. 

Theft  

Nov. 2: A gas station attendant at 491 Bloomfield Ave. reported he put $12 worth of gasoline into a car. The driver then drove away without paying. 

Robbery

Nov. 7: A man was robbed at gunpoint and his car taken by three men who approached him on the 160 block of North 17 Street. 

The victim said one of the men, described only as tall and thin, pointed a black handgun in his face and demanded the victim’s wallet, a set of keys and a gold chain from the victim’s neck. 

The suspect then got into victim’s car with two other men and drove off in the direction of East Orange. 

East Orange police pursued the car and all the suspects were apprehended.

Criminal Mischief

Nov. 2: A woman reported someone broke the rear window of her car on the 200 block of Ampere Parkway. 

Nov. 3: A woman reported someone slashed her rear tire and scratched the hood of her car on the 100 block of Franklin Street. 

Nov. 4: A woman reported someone spraypainted the word “CIRUE” on her fence on Vernon Terrace. 

Nov. 6: A woman reported someone broke the front windshield on her car parked in her driveway on the 270 block of Bloomfield Avenue.

Arrests

Oct. 29: John H. Berrocal of Odenton, MD was arrested for DWI. 

Oct. 30: Franz Mathurin Jr. of Bloomfield was arrested for defiant trespass. 

Oct. 31: Lennet Gill of Bloomfield was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance. 

Nov. 2: Alexandra Ruggiero of Bloomfield was arrested on a warrant for simple assault. 

Nov. 1: James Boyne of Bloomfield was arrested for outstanding warrants. 

Nov. 1: Joyce Meyers of Bloomfield was arrested for outstanding warrants. 

Nov. 2: Ibn Howell of  Newark was arrested for outstanding warrants. 

Nov. 2: Mark Ruccatano of East Newark was arrested for burglary. 

Nov. 2: Terrell Minatee of Newark was arrested for outstanding warrants. 

Nov. 2: Kyle Flowers of Newark was arrested for outstanding warrants. 

Nov. 4:  Gaetano Mongillo of Oakland, N.J. was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance.  

Nov. 5:  Wayne Evans of Bloomfield was arrested for DWI. 

Nov. 5:  Ronald McManus of Bloomfield was arrested for outstanding warrants. 

Nov. 7:  Manuel Minchala of Orange was arrested for DWI. 

Nov. 8: Paul Ellis of East Orange was arrested for carjacking, employing a Juvenile in the commission of a crime, possession of a handgun, theft and various other charges.
