Police Blotter: Burglaries, Stolen Vehicles Throughout the Township

The following information has been provided by the Bloomfield Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

BURGLARY 

Residential Burglaries
Oct. 25: A woman reported someone forced their way into her garage on the 100 block of North 17th Street and stole an electric leaf blower and a saw. 

Oct. 28: Sometime during the last week, someone broke a door on the 100 block of Park Avenue. Once inside, the suspect stole wrapped presents, which were being stored for a party.

Oct. 29: A resident on the 100 block of Walnut Street interrupted a man attempting to break in the rear door of his home. 

The suspect, described as a man with a thin build, approximately 5-foot, 8-inches tall, fled on foot north on Walnut Street when the homeowner discovered him attempting to break in around 12:30 a.m.

Oct. 30: 100 block N 16th Street. Police reported someone broke a rear door on the 100 block of North 16th Street between 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and stole an unknown amount of jewelry. 

COMMERCIAL 

Stolen Vehicles
Oct. 25: A 2005 Jeep was stolen from 9 Liberty St. 

Oct. 27: A 2002 Lincoln was stolen from 19 Linden Ave. 

Oct. 27: A 1997 Jeep MI was stolen from 68 Clinton St. 

Oct. 30: 297 A 2007 4-door black Toyota was stolen from Ampere Parkway.

THEFT 

Oct. 25: A victim reported someone is stealing used cooking oil from the rear of 1243 Broad St. 

Oct. 25: A woman reported a man was seen taking mail from her mailbox on the 100 block of Liberty Street. No suspects were found. 

Oct. 25: 50 block Austin Pl.  A woman said her Toshiba laptop was taken from a room on the 50 block of Austin Place. The woman said the last time she saw the computer was on Oct. 20. 

ROBBERY 

Oct. 30: A woman was robbed while walking near 135 Bloomfield Ave. when two men walked up behind her and stole her purse. 

The men were both described by the victim to be in their 20s. One suspect was described as 5-foot, 10-inches tall. The second suspect was described as 6-feet tall and thin with short hair. 

Criminal Mischief

Oct. 26: Lackawanna & Washington St. Police are looking for the person who spray painted the words “Scar 2000” under the overpass at Lakawanna and Washington Street. 

Oct. 27: A woman reported someone broke the rear passenger window of her 2007 Chevy van at the intersection of Glen Ridge Parkway and Broad Street. 

 MISCELLANEOUS 

Arrests
Oct. 25: Pratima Sugrim of Newark was arrested for DWI.

Oct. 25: Wade Salmon of Bloomfield was arrested for receiving stolen property.

Oct. 27: James Bittle of Newark was arrested for outstanding warrants. 

Oct. 27: Koty Salmon of Bloomfield was arrested for receiving stolen property. 

Oct. 28: Robert Jackson of Paterson was arrested for outstanding warrants. 

Oct. 29: Shindra Parasram of Newark was arrested for DWI. 

Oct. 29: Shariff H. Robinson of Miami, Fla. was arrested for an outstanding warrant. 

Oct. 29: John H. Berrocal of Odenton, Md. was arrested for DWI. 

Oct. 30: Franz Mathurin Jr. of Bloomfield was arrested for defiant trespass.
