Newark Man Charged With Dealing Crack, Heroin, in Bloomfield, Cops Say

Alleged dealer arrested after Bloomfield police investigation.

Bloomfield police detectives charged a Newark man for suspected drug dealing following an investigation.

Det. Sgt. Michael Sisco, Det. Louis Vitiello, Det. Chad Smith, Det. Harry Norris and Det. Jeff Alfonso arrested Kevin Jones, 43, on drugs charges on Thursday, Sept. 24, Bloomfield police said.

Working on a lead that Jones was bringing drugs into Bloomfield for sale, the team set up surveillance, police said. When Jones arrived, the detectives stopped and interviewed him.

Police said Jones had a $210 active warrant out of Woodbridge. After Jones arrested for the warrant, police reportedly found he was carrying a bundle of heroin with 10 individual wax packets and 16 small baggies containing crack cocaine.

Mr. Jones was transported to Police headquarters where he was charged with possession of heroin, possession of crack cocaine, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute and possession of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute

Judge John Paparazzo set bail at $20,000.  A court date of Oct. 3 is pending.
